Yeah, took me a while to edit these. Still a bit blueish but better to post them.

As promised some Khador

Kayazy Assassins

Irusk1

Manowar Drakhun

And the Conquest!!

First weekend of March and it’s time to review the advances on the panting queue set for Khador Month. The way to know if things are going fine is simply to have painted a number of points equal to the day of the month +2, since I set up to do 33 points in a 31 days month.

Looks like I’m 2 points ahead of schedule, which isn’t a whole lot but a good start.

So which were the lucky ones? Two units of infantry to begin, because they always look intimidating on the paint table.

First the Kayazi Assassins with the Underboss (11 points). I hate these figures. I honestly do. They’re ugly, they’re hard to paint, and they have nothing to do with the rest of my Khador, aesthetically speaking. I honestly hated every minute, but they’re good and done.

And finally the Greylord Ternion unit (3 points). Unlike the other unit, I loved every second of these guys. The models are just gorgeous. They’re similar in detail but slightly different in pose, enough to make it possible to paint them in a single sitting but keeping it interesting. Honestly, it’s been a while since I have enjoyed so much painting a small unit of figures.

Ironically though, the Assassins are an almost auto include in most competitive Khador lists, while the Ternion gets very little love. I like the figures that much though, so they will find a way into my lists.

Let’s take a look at the progress update and possible next models on the schedule.

Old Witch and Scrapjack (3)
Sorscha1 (plastic) (1)
Irusk1 (1)

Full Kayazi Assassins unit + Underboos (11 points)
Beast 09 (3)
Greylord Ternion unit (3)
Man-o-war Drakhun + dismount (5)
Full Mechanics unit (6)

33 points total
19 points left

Keeping on the infantry mood I think I’ll try to kill the unit of Mechanics first, and then an infantry appropriate caster like Irusk1. Think that will keep me in schedule just fine.

Next update in a week.

So what is Khador Month?

Well it’s my attempt at clearing my backlog of Khador figures that are swamping my painting table. Not only because I spent a lot of money on them and want to finish them up, but also cause I’m a bit hard to get unpainted figures on the table unless it’s the privacy of home, and there’s a lot of models here I want to use!

Also there’s a cool campaign going on at the hobby store and wanna try as many lists and models as possible. So, how does this work?

Well I will assign points to several models I want to paint. 1 point to small base models. 2 to medium. 3 to large bases. Each point equals a day of the month, roughly what it would take me to paint each model (of course I cannot paint all day, like most of you) so it’s a rough estimate. So I expect to paint about 31 points of models.

I have made a list of the models I want to paint, adding up to 33 points, mainly because some of them are started to some point and abandoned. But you know how it is, sometimes picking up a paintjob is more work than actually starting over. One last thing to consider is I’m finishing building my Conquest. So I’m sure I’ll be tempted to work on it at some point.

Anyway, here’s the list of models that will be getting some love (if all goes well)

Old Witch and Scrapjack (3)
Sorscha1 (plastic) (1)
Irusk1 (1)

Full Kayazi Assassins unit + Underboos (11 points)
Beast 09 (3)
Greylord Ternion unit (3)
Man-o-war Drakhun + dismount (5)
Full Mechanics unit (6)

33 points total

The idea is to update here weekly with pics of the finished models. If I finish early I will have a list of “bonus models” I’d like to do, but it’s a bit too early for that so I’ll check when the month is well on it’s way how I’m doing.

Finally got around to painting one of the most useful and beautiful Khador jacks. Specially since I built it (and its base) sooooo many months ago. There’s a WIP in here somewhere. Three painting updates in a week isn’t bad. Let’s see if I can keep that up. God knows I have the unpainted models for it!!

Here’s that second unit of Doom Reavers that made it to the group photo. Tats mostly let the opponent know they’re a different unit, but for me looking at them from the back had to make a tiny mark on their bases. Even if they have tats on their backs, its hard to easily see how the units are standing (specially if they’re very close) and we know how important placement is for them (berserker, low CMD, abomination rule for other models, weak against AOEs, etc).
